Active Door & Window Co., Inc. was established in January 1967 by Bob Volk Sr. and his wife Emma, beginning as a small venture out of their garage in West Islip, Long Island, New York. The business quickly expanded with the involvement of their three sons, who contributed during weekends and eventually joined the family enterprise after their education. As the company prospered, the Volks became established in the home improvement industry known for their commitment to hard work, excellent service, quality products, and fair prices.
In 1987, the Volks relocated to Punta Gorda, Florida, while leaving their New York operations in the capable hands of their sons. Shortly thereafter, in 1991, they opened a new location in Punta Gorda with the help of their son Ed, who took on a leadership role in the Florida branch. Over the following years, Active Door & Window grew significantly, now employing over 30 staff members and operating a second showroom in Port Charlotte.
