Byron Plumbing, Inc. is a family-owned plumbing business that has been serving the West Michigan area since its establishment in 1969. Founded by Don Brummel and his two sons, Larry and Marvin, Byron Plumbing began when the Brummels were inspired to start their own venture after working at Godwin Plumbing Inc. With limited financial resources, Don risked his farm as collateral to launch the company along with his sons.
Initially, Byron Plumbing focused primarily on residential projects, particularly sewer changeovers, which is the process of connecting existing homes to new sewer mains. Their commitment to honesty and service quality quickly earned them a solid reputation. Early significant contracts helped the company to grow, including a pivotal job for Rycenga Lumber that enabled them to establish a strong client base.
Over the years, Byron Plumbing’s work has shifted from 80% residential to 80% commercial, reflecting the changing landscape of their business. The company has seen several retirements among its founding members but remains rooted in family ownership with Kevin Brummel, Don’s grandson, now leading the organization.
As they approach 50 years in business, Byron Plumbing continues to thrive with a dedicated team of over 25 employees, many of whom are family members. The legacy of integrity and quality service initiated by Don and his sons lives on, with Kevin’s two sons, Nick and Ryan, also contributing as licensed plumbers. Byron Plumbing, Inc. stands as a testament to the strength of family, community, and unwavering commitment to quality in the plumbing industry.
