Josh, a 5th generation native of Colorado, began his career in the early 1990s focusing on commercial painting. His apprenticeship involved working on significant projects such as the ‘Up With People’ initiative and corporate offices for Hunter Douglas in Broomfield. After gaining extensive experience, he ventured into various roles, including high-end painting projects at notable locations like The River Front Loft Projects and The Broadmoor Hotel.
The impetus for establishing Custom Line Painting came in late 2006 when Josh became a father of twins, Caleb and Erika, which inspired him to embark on his entrepreneurial journey. He dedicated himself to mastering decorative plaster techniques, particularly Venetian Plaster, spurred by an article featuring a leading expert in the field. Josh pursued self-education through videos and research, which culminated in formal training at the decorative arts school, Oro Studios, in Denver. This training allowed him to refine his skills in various troweled finishes and enhance his overall craft.
