Packaging By Design (PBD) is a family-owned flexographic printing and custom manufacturing company based in Bartlett, Illinois. Established in 1983, PBD has evolved into a reputable supplier of flexible packaging solutions including pouches, back seam bags, and a variety of other products tailored for a wide array of industries such as food, retail, medical, aerospace, and automotive. The company started in a modest 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Niles, IL, using advanced 6-color stack printing presses. Over the years, PBD has consistently renewed its commitment to quality and sustainability by implementing modern technologies and environmentally friendly practices. A notable milestone was the transition in 1993 to a fully water-based printing and lamination process, positioning PBD as one of the few companies in the industry to embrace such sustainable methods. The use of water-based systems results in lower VOC emissions, reduced odors, and enhanced print durability, thereby providing an eco-friendly advantage to their clients. In the 2000s, PBD doubled its capacity and relocated to a 37,000 sq. ft. building, further expanding its machinery and operational capabilities. Recently in 2024, in celebration of 40 years in the industry, PBD opened a new state-of-the-art facility encompassing 50,000 sq. ft., which features cutting-edge flexographic printing equipment that operates entirely with water-based inks and adhesives. This facility enhances their production capabilities and enables them to serve customers nationwide.
